Corporate Strategist

Now that’s a title with a certain ring to it, and as it happens, it is also my new job title at the Telge Corporation. As of today I am moving back to being employed again as opposed to being a consultant. But my new assignment has many similarities with the work I did as a consultant and, in fact, I will continue working as a strategy consultant, facilitator and advisor as well.

I have been granted the privilege of working with Telge’s corporate strategy including issues like establishing new businesses, mergers & acquisitions, business intelligence and promoting synergies among the subsidiaries in Telge. I will be doing this work in close corporation with the subsidiaries’ CEOs as well as with staff managers and last, but certainly not least, with the CEO of Telge, Kjell Hasslert. Working with Kjell will not be a new experience. As a consultant I already worked with him on establishing a vision value driven organization and during the last 12 months I’ve also been on a part-time manager-for-hire contract as a information manager at Telge and managing the transformation of Telges multi-brand structure into a unified brand name and corporate profile.

To those of you who are not Swedish Telge is probably an unknown entity. Telge is corporation made up of 11 companies doing business in such diverse areas as energy & utilities, public housing, real estate, recycling, harbour & stewarding services to science parks. Telge has 900+ employees and annual sales amounts to 375 million Euro.

Telge is probably one of the most interesting municipality owned corporations in Sweden right now. Despite their diversity they share the same culture and the fact that most of them are sort of “underdogs”. All of them have competitors that are substantially larger, but often less profitable, and less successful. Now that’s a position I like!

Finally, I will not leave the consultancy career completely. I will continue taking on assignments, albeit not as many at one time and, maybe not as comprehensive as before. On the other hand I am fortunate enough to have some very talented consultants in my network with whom I will co-operate as much as I possibly can. Koncernstrateg

Det är onekligen en titel som förpliktigar. Det råkar också vara etiketten på mitt nya jobb som anställd i Telgekoncernen. Från och med idag tar jag klivet och blir anställd igen, men min nya roll har många paralleller med jobbet som strategikonsult och facilitator. Och jag lämnar inte konsultlivet helt och hållet heller.

Jag har fått förtroendet att jobba med Telges koncernövergipande strategiska utveckling, med frågor som rör omvärldsbevakning, nyetablering, avveckling och korsbefruktning mellan del olika bolagen. Det handlar också om långsiktig ägarstyrning, och planering av koncernledningens arbete. Arbetet bedrivs givetvis i nära samarbete med dotterbolagens VD:ar ett antal stabschefer i moderbolaget och, inte minst, koncernchefen Kjell Hasslert som jag har förmånen att ha som chef. Under min konsultkarriär har jag jobbat både som konsult med Kjell i visions- och kärnvärdesstyrning inom gamla Telge Energi, och som inhyrd Informationschef & varumärkesprojektledare i Telge under hösten/våren 2004/2005, så koncernens modus operandi är inte helt okänd materia.

Telge är en nyskapad, dynamisk och viljestark koncern omfattande 11 bolag, från välkända Telge Energi och Tom Tits Experiment, via Södertälje Hamn till Telge Fastigheter och Telge Återvinning. Det är en brokig samling företag, men de har samtidigt mycket som förenar, rollen som utmanare till exempel. Alla har de konkurrenter som är åtskilligt mycket större, och ändå är Telgebolagen ofta mycket mer framgångsrika. Receptet är snabbhet, smarta lösningar och att helt enkelt ändra spelreglerna i respektive bransch. Jag vågar påstå att Telge är bland det mest spännande som händer bland kommunägda bolag just nu. Samtidigt är det så att jag inte lämnar konsultlivet helt och hållet. Tidvis kommer jag driva konsultuppdrag inom facilitering och strategiprocesser på samma sätt som förr och precis som tidigare kommer det ofta att ske i samarbete med min kollega Mikael Brander och andra konsultkollegor jag jobbat med under fluidmindstiden.
