Hull Ceiling

Updated 2004-06-23

The decoration of the inside of the hull in the cabin is often a difficult issue, especially on a fiberglass boat. Even after top coating the hull does not give the nice cozy atmosphere required in a leisure craft.

Some boat builders opt to use marine grade wallpaper, others use carpet like materials or soft water repellent cloth. For Web Commander we went for another solution.

All visible parts of the hull in the cabin is now covered by mahogany rails, about 5 cm (2 inches) wide. They are mounted on vertically mounted wooden rails. High gloss varnish gives that nice finishing touch. It also matches the ceiling in the cockpit, and together they provide a nice concept that connects into the classic mahogany Chris Crafts of the 1940-ties and 1950-ties.
